About Meyer Burger
Meyer Burger is a company specialized in the production of PV panels that use innovative technologies for an improved efficiency. The company was born in 1953 in Switzerland as manufacturer of precision machines for the watchmaking industry.
Along the years they used this skill to develop innovative solutions to produce silicon wafer for PV industry, thus becoming bigger and bigger till today.
Meyer Burger’s engineers improved the heterojunction (HJT) technology, patenting the SmartWire technology that became the global industrial standard for solar cells and revolutionized the PV market.
Cells and PV modules of Meyer Burger are developed in Switzerland and made only in German, following the highest quality standard and eliminating the use of lead and toxic solvents in the production phase.

Patented SmartWire (SWCT™) technology
Meyer Burger patented the SmartWire technology that allows to combine the cells for an higher efficiency.
In particular, the features and the advantages of this solution are:
- Reduction of shadowing on the cells up to 30% thanks to the thin connection elements
- Higher energy absorption and power production
- + 20% power produced on the same surface
- Higher stability of the cells and a lower vulnerability to micro-cracks
European production
Meyer Burger develops its modules in Switzerland and produces them in Germany, investing in the development of local production realities. Thanks to the procurement of many materials from European suppliers, the company is able to grant a continuity in case of supply chain interruptions.
This type of structure rooted in Europe, allows Meyer Burger to assure quick delivery times thanks to short supply distances.
